But it should be finished soon
BM2 bait for your time:

I wondered where it went. What’s being done to it?

Wait - what happened to it?

They are adding thicker glass (11mm); it’s what some police departments use and they call it “anti-disturbance” But it’s not bulletproof.
However, it’s going to add a lot of weight, so they need to put in new coil springs, need to make the body stiffer (don’t know if you can notice a new crossmember), and they need to re-seal the whole thing so that’s why you see it without an interior )has to go through water testing without it in case of a failure)

It’s getting hood-proofed (anti disturbance glass)

Huh. Is this a somewhat standard modification there? Learn me something, teacher

If you don’t mind my asking, what would one expect to pay for such modifications? Also curious if they’re adding any ballistic plating inside of the doors?

I think that around one in one thousand cars here have safety upgrades like thicker glass (0.1%) of which 30% belong to the government. But it could be wrong, around 2500 cars are armored in Mexico every year. Mine isn’t, but I need to go to the same people and sign the same paperwork because it is still a modification to the glass, they do a criminal background check on my family, a fiscal checkup too, and they send police precincts my VIN and plate number. I also get a plaque from the secretariat of defense saying I’m not a drug dealer... which is apt.

Numbers are not common on these, I’ve seen figures as high as 1% which is ludicrous considering we have 40 million cars in the road.

It depends. we were charged 10,000 dollars plus VAT, but it’s not bulletproofed. a VR4 bulletproof car costs about 30-35,000 dollars plus VAT. Mine is probably VR2, which means that it will be a cold day in hell before it can be broken by a melee weapon, but the material will fail if it’s shot at.
We did not get ballistic plating

Worth every penny if you end up needing it. Here’s hoping it never gets put through it’s paces!

What is it? I can’t tell.

Well, it’s mostly for show, but it works, if you look at the Passat, the windows have a thick black line along the edges, while in older cars that would mean it had laminated glass, in this one it means it has armored glass, so muggers, or criminals in general are discouraged to approach your car because it doesn’t matter if it’s 11mm like mine or 44mm like a VR6 vehicle (shotgun proof) it is always the same kind of line which means that they won’t get you to cooperate with the mugging. I don’t think I need it,I don’t live in Aleppo, but my family insisted, and it increases resale value! We also got a discount because it’s the first of it’s kind, so they used my glass for the design... if anyone else wants to armor a stinger with AGP glass then they’ll use the blueprints from mine!

Not even the VR6, I do wonder how slow it will be now!
